I have been a Finance Director (FD) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 2006. I have lead teams of 2 finance FTEs in a £2m business, right through to 250 finance and sales FTEs in a £1.2bn business. And lots in between! I've managed the finance functions of owner managed businesses and those of highly distressed businesses where I've significantly aided their growth and on occasion carefully managed their financial route through a business turnaround to sale. See below for some brief notes on my major successes (or at least what I'm allowed to publish!).
I specialise in helping you to get the most out of your business. My 2 "sweet spots" are :
- Start up companies - putting in place the right teams, IT systems, and reporting to continually increase confidence with your major stakeholders and investors, to help attract the right talent, customers and funding
- Distribution, manufacturing and logistics companies where my mix of attention to detail and innovative reporting ensures that you get the very best use out of your limited resources - whether that be warehouses, vehicle fleets, machines or people.
Throughout my working life, I've never let "grass grow beneath my feet". For me, when the job is done or when I feel that someone else might do a better job of the next phase, I'll bow out. Many companies have FDs or CFOs that have become a bit stale - providing the same outdated information or insights, monthly board reports that don't get the audience interested or stimulated to change, or who simply cannot motivate their teams or colleagues to adapt. You don't necessarily need to change your FD or CFO, but do consider getting us in to review what you get from them.
